Roadhaus new AVP engine.....   2008-04-10 20:44
On this section, you will be able to follow a step by step engine swap, including: water pump, bleeding, hoses, cleaning.....and so much more..... (text will follow guys, am a bit tired.....)

New engine (New engine from Busdepot and AVP, thanks Ron......)

(DAY ONE) Removing the engine.... (Me, Larry, Alain and JP, 4 hours total, a lot of laughter.... no pain.... a few beers and meatpie......)

Well, that look complicated..... but it's not, one part after another one, slowly, surely and carefully....

Syncro frame, kind of scary and heavy....

Just to remember some wire color and special step....

JP and me, well, we work fast.... we want no one around us when we do serious work...

I said serious....

Am a "model" of mechanic...ha ha ha ha...

Yeap, Larry is really working removing that big Sycro frame

Here isour major coolant leak, head gasket did blow out..... over pressure problem.....

Still removing the chassis

OK, time to get that coolant out, the drain screw is between pushrod on each head....Allen screw.(red arrow)

Not clear but roadhaus is missing one of the 2 main rear motor mount screw, resulting in a twisted and broken rear braket.

Your DA men...

Readyyyyyyyyyyyyy....

Go..........

flow, flow, flow.....

Kind of a cool picture

The final touch, one good jack, 4 guys is the safe way to go.

Of course i don't like the clutch bearing condition, we  are also missing the left upper main screw (red arrow)

Your out bro, time to drink....

Finding and looking at the problem (S), Larry can't wait.... so lets crack those heads open...... and look inside..... everyone is waithing.....drumsssssssssssssssss.....

Looking at some damage parts$$$$$$$$$$

All the parts removes

Same

Head gasket problem...

Same....

Same

Ok, lets open that baby...

The working patch, a longer pushrod....

Don't do that at home....Having fun, why not....

Eyes close....

Looking inside, head are not that bad.......

Well, not so good.... but that doesn't explain the very low compression on #1

Pistons have no heavy damage...

The matting surface of the outer head gasket is nice, maybe too nice.....

Look like a speaker...

Outer head gasket is really in a bad shape....

The strange but good fix made in Oregon.... a longer pushrod
Partial conclusion:
Well, i don't see any heavy damage for now, the #4 cylinder exhaust lifter is finish but the rest are somewhat ok, the cam lobe on this one is cooked.... Pistons look ok, no major damage, but i can see that #1 is going away... #1 head is quite pitted, but it doesn't explain the very low compression on #1, ring must be cooked or close to it.....whatever, if we care right now....one thing is for shure, both outter heads gasket are cooked, i don't even understand how he made it here....
